I’ve seen Apothic Red at my local wine store for quite some time before I decided to try it. There’s no real reason why I picked it up other than a) a new wine to try and b) it had become a familiar label (visually).
The Apothic Red had a pretty light scent to me – I could smell fruit (berries) and maybe oak or chocolate – and slightly tart. The taste was rather sweet but full – it is also pretty smooth with no tart aftertaste. I could taste berries (fruit) and vanilla.
I enjoyed this red but – as per usual – hubby wasn’t a fan. I’m not sure how we are going to mesh our wine tastes.*sad face* I do wonder if he disliked this one more than usual because its a blend with Zinfandel? I’ve always had bad reactions to Zinfandels…
I did not pair this wine with any foods. I would be willing to purchase Apothic Red again but not right away as hubby didn’t enjoy it very much.
