SEAL Ford Alambeaux is a busted up SEAL on his way out of the teams. Trina Zarkos is being tossed out of SEAL training like every other female candidate…until they’re thrown together on a way off-book mission to see if she can play with the big boys or not.
Hot Bayou SEAL is the first book I read in the Hot Alpha SEALs Anthology and I really enjoyed it! Hot Bayou SEAL is a short and quick contemporary romance read. The heroine, Trina, is a bit of a badass…and I love badasses, lol.
Trina Zarkos is training to become the first female SEAL – she’s in the pre-conditioning program and is…surviving. She’s not the best in her class and not the worse but she’s too stubborn to quit even though the instructors desperately are trying to make her flunk out. Suddenly she’s kicked out, put on a plane with SEAL Ford Alambeaux and sent to the middle of nowhere.
The head instructor for the SEALs has determined that Trina has what it takes – so far – so he decides to send her off to be personally trained by Ford in the swamps of Louisiana.
There was only one real issue I had with Hot Bayou SEAL – Trina’s Achilles’ heel is sexual molestation. During her training Trina is required to get over her fear of sexual assault in relation to her fellow soldiers – and somehow this turned into Trina having actual sex with Ford. I felt some kind of way about the whole situation, to be honest. WHY would a woman who is afraid of being assaulted sexually try out for the all male SEALs? She’d have to be able to live with them 24/7. In addition, SEALs are Special Forces – she’s volunteering to be sent to the front line of any battle or mission. It’s almost a guarantee that people (women AND men) held captive by the type of criminal that Special Forces go after typically rape and torture captives.
One of my favorite parts of the story was the ending – Ford was injured and Trina was able to carry him to safety – even though he was much heavier and taller than her.
Other than the issue related above, I really enjoyed Hot Bayou SEAL.
