Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year.
The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.
Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.
For romance writer Roxy St. James, living in Nocturne Falls also means a fresh start. And as soon as her unbearable ex signs the divorce papers, that new beginning will be a reality. Unfortunately, her ex doesn’t seem ready to let her go and the subtle threats he’s been making leave her no choice but to confide in her oh-so-handsome neighbor, who just happens to be a deputy with the sheriff’s department.
But Officer Alex Cruz isn’t just the law. He’s also a panther shifter, a secret he’s sworn to keep (along with the truth about Nocturne Falls) from the very foxy Roxy. Humans aren’t supposed to know the town is filled with supernaturals. Then she starts seeing things she shouldn’t and thinks she’s losing her mind. His attraction—and concern—for her wars with the promise he’s made.
Will his truth be more than she can handle? Or will it cause her to write him out of her life?
I’m not even sure how I ended up here. Sometimes when you read a lot…
So. The Shifter Romances The Writer is book #5 in the Nocturne Falls series…I’ve read only book #1 and a novella thus far. And if we’re being honest, I can’t say I’m in love with this series thus far but I am enjoying it. I don’t know why I’m enjoying it – the romances have not rung a bell for me yet – but I continue to read them, lol. I can say that I am enthralled by the idea of Nocturne Falls…so maybe that’s why I keep reading – hoping for that YES! moment? IDK.
The Shifter Romances The Writer was fun – a lot more fun than The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride – but still no sex (booooo!). I liked the heroine and hero pretty equally. I wasn’t a fan of the “let’s protect the fragile Roxy” plot line – and neither was she (Roxy). I enjoyed the interactions between the H/h but I was a bit confused by what appeared to be a rather large plot hole: View Spoiler »the whole situation with ex Thomas then morphing into stalking by different person?? Were they both (Thomas and stalker) playing games at the same time? Were they working together?? IDK. « Hide Spoiler
I’m still reading around so we’ll see.
