Ruby Santos knew exactly what she was getting herself into when she signed up to write a soldier overseas.
The guidelines were simple: one letter or email a week for the length of his or her deployment. Care packages were optional.
Been there, done that. She thought she knew what to expect.
What she didn’t count on was falling in love with the guy.

Dear Aaron was sweet and lovely, to be honest. Dear Aaron is written in email and messenger format for the majority of the book. And it got to be just a little annoying after some time. But I adored Aaron and I loved Ruby.

While I really enjoyed Dear Aaron, it dragged for me in places (quite a bit). I never fell in love with Aaron and Ruby the way I did with Vanessa and Aiden (The Wall of Winnipeg and Me) and with Kat and Tristan (Lingus). I think they just weren’t together (in person) enough for me.

Again, Mariana Zapata is the queen of the slow burn. She doesn’t build quite as much tension here as in other books I’ve read by her – but still. Lovely.

If you are a fan of the slow-burn romance, I can’t recommend Mariana Zapata more.
