So, I was recently approved at NetGally to read book 2 in the Science of Temptation series by Delphine Dryden, The Seduction Hypothesis.

So, I pretty much love Delphine Dryden’s work. I’m enjoying The Seduction Hypothesis. And I devoured book 1 in the series, The Theory of Attraction.

I have this thing about awkward and/or embarrassing moments. I can’t help it. It’s my personal quirk. When I’m reading (an admitted fictional character(s)) get into an awkward or embarrassing moment…it makes me feel all jittery inside. I get tense and I put the book down. I know!!! It’s crazy, right? But that’s me.

Want to know what’s worse? I can’t do it with TV, either. I’ll leave the room. It drives my husband crazy, lol! He’s always astounded that I just.can’t.do.it. I feel embarrassed for the [admittedly] fictional character(s). I guess you can tell we don’t watch a lot of sitcoms together, lol! I get all squirmy.

Back to The Seduction Hypothesis.

I’m reading along and WHAM! embarrassing moment that makes the heroine squirm. Damn. Now I’m squirming. Uncomfortable. I put the book down…and I’ve been giving myself pep-talks ever since. “You can do this. You just have to get past that moment. It’s only one moment in an entire book. Come on, you can DO THIS.”

So…I pick the book up…re-read the beginning of the embarrassing moment…read 1-2 more sentences…and I put it down again.

ARRRRGG!! WHAT is up with that???! Ok. Made it through another half paragraph. Put my ebook reader to sleep again.

Damn it! Why isn’t it possible to read with your hands over your eyes??????!

I have to leave the room, too! I do a bit better with books, but I really do have to leave the room for embarrassing moments on TV. I actually didn’t even realize I was doing it until my husband pointed it out a few years ago. Talk about a mental block…

It’s good to know I’m not alone! 😀

I’m the same way…I do better with books…but I still get all squicked out, lol.
