As part of my home gym I’ve always wanted a set of battle ropes. I’ve been researching them [battle ropes] for a bit of time now.
**NOTE: I consider this “accessorial” equipment. Unless this is part of your regular workout program, something like this can wait until more necessary gym equipment is purchased.**
Battle Ropes are – in very basic – a long and heavy rope (usually anywhere from 30ft to 100ft) that is normally 1.5” – 2.0” thick that is anchored to a point in the rope’s middle. Either end of the rope is used to “battle” by making the rope move in different patterns. These ropes weigh anywhere from 16 pounds to 92 pounds [or more!] and are made from a variety of different natural or synthetic materials. Battle Ropes are generally used to get a challenging combination strength/aerobic workout.
Battling Ropes (and The Battling Ropes System) is a complete strength and conditioning program created and developed by John Brookfield. John Brookfield is a multiple world record holder and the author of the popular book, Mastery of Hand Strength.
Since the name “Battling Ropes” is trademarked by Mr. Brookfield, there are a ton of battle ropes sets/types out there with different names. You’ll see Muscle Ropes, Combat Ropes, Battle Ropes, etc.
Since I don’t own a battle rope set as yet, this post will focus on the three different types I’ve researched (one of which I will buy). Since my ropes will be used primarily inside, this will focus on the synthetic fiber ropes rather than the natural fiber ropes (because the natural fibers will shed).
So, here are the contenders!
The Battling Ropes System is a complete strength and conditioning program like no other. The Battling Ropes System was created and developed by John Brookfield. John is a multiple world record holder and the author of the popular book, Mastery of Hand Strength. John spent over a year developing this system strictly for himself. He was using this advanced training system to skyrocket his strength and stamina to new heights, despite the fact that John is nearly 53 years old. John has continued to improve setting new records that require strength, endurance and mental toughness. After using the Battling Ropes for his own personal goals, John decided to show the basics of a few of his friends. They thought that this system was simply the best due to the incredible results that the system produces. The key word here is RESULTS.
These results will come to absolutely anyone who trains on the Battling Ropes. The system allows the world-class athlete or competitor to push their limits to the point of failure in a safe manner. However, the Battling Ropes System allows the average person wishing to lose a few pounds and get in better shape a user-friendly workout as well. Simply put, the Battling Ropes can be used by anyone regardless of their goals. The reason for this is because you control the system, it does not control you. The system is the airplane and you are the pilot.

We realize that there are a lot of choices available to you when it comes to selecting a workout rope and it can be quite overwhelming especially if you’ve never used a workout rope before. Here are a few reasons why we would like to earn your business:
Quality – Every single workout rope is assembled by hand in the United States. Everything we sell is brand new and carefully inspected before it is shipped.
Selection – We pride ourselves on having the best selection of workout ropes anywhere. It’s not just to overwhelm you, but there are different workout ropes for different people with different needs and we’ve got everyone covered.
Price – We run a lean business, our offices are not pretty and we haven’t got fancy vehicles. But by running lean we can make a decent living selling you a quality product at a fair price and feel good about ourselves. Also, selling good quality products means we have less than a 1% return rate and we don’t waste money fixing faulty products… a strategy we hope more businesses figure out.
Customer Service – Ok so we have an answering service, and you have to press 1 to talk to a representative… but to keep our overhead and prices low it’s a necessary evil for now. The good news is you will to talk to one of our hard working Muscle Ropes employees right here in the USA in our own offices! We really are happy when you’re happy, and we will work as hard as we can to help you find the Muscle Rope that’s right for you.
30-Day Money-back Guarantee – It’s exactly what it sounds like. If you’re unhappy with your workout rope send it back and we’ll refund your money. We don’t like to point fingers, but many of our competitors prefer the “All Sales Final” approach. Not Us.
It’s not a rope- It’s a Muscle Rope – It may seem cliché, but when you buy a Muscle Rope you are joining a community of likeminded individuals who strive to push their body to it’s highest potential. You’re joining a community of personal trainers, professional athletes, and veterans that understand what it means to work hard for something. Finally you’re joining a community that fights for the underdog, supports each other, and wants to live a long and healthy life. It’s not a rope – It’s a Muscle Rope

1.5-inch thick poly Combat Rope @ 40-foot long
Let me be honest, I’m leaning toward the Lighting Rope by Muscle Ropes. It’s a good price, it’s make of a no-shed synthetic fiber and seems to fit my needs. After that, I think the runner up is the GoFit Combat Rope – simply because I *think* I saw it cheaper on Amazon. If that’s NOT the case…it’s back to the Muscle Rope again. I like the Battling Ropes a LOT but they are the most expensive option unless I go econ. But at least they show shipping…Muscle Ropes doesn’t show shipping (broken on the site) and shipping prices are impossible to find on their site. I even called Muscle Ropes to get a shipping price. I was told it was “somewhere near $25” as far as the rep could remember from the last shipment to my area. $25!!!
Guess if GoFit is available with Amazon Prime…Muscle Ropes might be out of the line up with Battling Ropes sneaking back in.
Which battle rope would you go for?
