Easy by Tammara Webber and Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire Get Plagiarized

July 1, 2013 book rage, Misc, Romance, self published 0

I’ve hesitated to put this on my personal blog for about a week now due to the constant updates. But the news is well and truly out there so I doubt there will be any additional updates.

Plagiarism. It suckz azz. 🙁

Recently, a book named Amazingly Broken started climbing the sales charts. Written by self-published author Jordin Williams, the book reportedly made close to $10,000 in sales in about 6 days – bolstered by the close resemblance to the best-selling New Adult books Easy by Tammara Webber and Beautiful Disaster bu Jamie McGuire.

As the book Amazingly Broken prepared to really start to take off, the well know book blog Dear Author published shocking information: Amazingly Broken was not just similar to the novels Easy and Beautiful Disaster, the book plagiarized whole chunks of the two popular books.

See comparison here: The Plagiarizing of Tammara Webber’s Easy by @JordinBWilliams

What follows below is my “real time” Goodreads updates of the situation. Some links maybe dead due to caching. All links to author profiles on Goodreads are still good – but the plagiarist tried their best to cover their tracks by gutting/deleting all profiles that were discovered to be attached to this thievery. The “books” that the sockpuppets “wrote” are still attached to these gutted profiles – so please make sure you aren’t buying these “books!”

ETA2: Looks like she also did the fanfic thing. Really thief? Really? Not content with plagiarism, you also had to do P2P FF as well. Is there no level you will stoop to? http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9063496/1/Amazingly-Damaged <— If you really want to read it, get your copy FREE here.

ETA3: Nope! Not at all. She's now blaming her "ghostwriter." So….you're such a piss poor author that YOU can't write YOUR OWN first book???! WTF! You're not James Patterson. At least he had some serious writing cred before going down that path. Sheesh!

Annnd…she also claims that she IS A Ghostwriter. But how do you get another ghostwriter if YOU are a ghostwriter? http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://authorjordinwilliams.blogspot.com/p/about.html

and here: http://books-and-insomnia.blogspot.com/2013/06/release-day-blast-giveaway-amazingly.html <– BTW, that's a Stock Photo, I’ve been told. Yep, a stock photo: http://za.fotolia.com/id/43920638?by=release

ETA4: It seems the book has been removed from Amazon! Yaaay!

ETA5: But wait! There’s more! [redacted] He/she (I say this because Jordin is listed as Male and Female depending on which site you are looking at – like this one: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://authorjordinwilliams.blogspot.com/p/about.html) has already tangled with Jamie McGurie:

According to Jamie McGuire Jordin B Williams also goes by Jordin Bishop and wrote something called Sparkle. Apparently he/she advertised on Jamie’s author page without permission after Jamie expressly asked her not to.”

ETA6: Storify! https://www.mediabistro.com/galleycat/writer-caught-plagiarizing-tammara-webber-jamie-mcguire_b73164

ETA7: The Plot Thickens!! *dum dum DUUMMMM*

Not only is this person publishing under “Jordin B Williams”, but these as well: Emily Curran, Liz Thomas, Booksy Reviews, Booksy Cup, Jordin Bishop, and Jordin Baker. Please do not support these “people” and pages.

ETA8: Is the Empire finally starting to crumble…or is this just the tip of the iceberg??

*Beth Klein also was a part of an erotica group. She started spamming the group's members and using the group's name in the spam. Members of the group were VERY PO'd because the spam gave the impression that the group approved of her actions. The Mods of the group had to kickban her. Shortly after a new author showed up to argue and complain that Beth Klein was kickbanned.
*Beth Klein also mods an erotica group: Sexy Romance which seems to have been recently created (2013). The funny part about THAT is that Goodreads Staff had to delete a previous group – Dirty Romance – that was created and Modded by Emma Buch. Staff deleted the group because they engaged in large scale copyright infringement. Color me unsurprised. The Sexy Romance group appeared within days of Dirty Romance being deleted.

*Created and Modded a group named Dirty Romance. The group was deleted by GR Staff due to large scale copyright infringement.

K.A. Andrews – Looks like this author profile has been gutted today. *so surprised* /sarcasm

ETA9: Bookish Treasures has a write up. Interesting comment here:

An author interview with Jordin that can be seen here states that Easy, Rule and Wallbanger are her favourite books and that H.M. Ward is the author who most inspired her. It might be a good idea for someone to check to see if she also plagiarized off Rule, Wallbanger and any of Ward’s books.
