The goal of this challenge is to try to limit my book purchases to no more than $20 a month. This is a long standing challenge to keep my spending under control.
2014 was a total fail. No comment.
Throughout 2015 I purchased 58 books for myself for a total of $212.40, averaging $3.66 per book. Of the $212.40, $87.14 was spent in “cash,” $28.93 was spent on special purchases (i.e. pre-orders, etc) and $96.33 was spent using a giftcard I received. Since I did not count the giftcard purchases towards my monthly budgeted amount, I ended 2015 with $152.86 remaining for 2015.
Throughout 2016 I purchased 59 books for myself for a total of $217.06, averaging $3.68 per book. Of the $217.06, $145.18 was spent in “cash” and $71.88 was spent on special purchases (i.e. pre-orders, etc). I ended 2016 with $94.82 remaining for 2016.
These totals are very close to 2015 so…very little improvement (if any) from 2015.
